With tickets in level 100 at the Roger’s Center we had our socks knocked off by Bono and the boys from Dublin. Despite having to fill a large venue with lights and sound U2 delivered a strong performance that was part rock show, part political rally, part history lesson, but all good times!

Rogers Centre, formerly known as SkyDome, is a multi-purpose stadium in Toronto near Lake Ontario. It is home to Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Argonauts, the site of the annual International Bowl American college football bowl game, and as of 2008, the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills’ second playing venue in the Bills Toronto Series. While it is primarily a sports venue, it also hosts other large-scale events such as conventions, trade fairs, concerts, funfairs, and monster truck shows. The stadium was renamed “Rogers Centre” following the purchase of the stadium by Rogers Communications in 2005.

After a long absence, they finally arrived back in T.O. U2 proved once again why they are world’s biggest rock and roll band. Bono cool and flawless as usual, the band behind him; perfection. Lights, music, atmosphere was exactly what I would have expected from a band of such caliber. The stage was spider-like creature/spaceship, massive and interactive. I swear, it was ready to take off. The show certainly did!

What a great show! They started with four songs from their new album, No Line on the Horizon, then rocked us out with their solid classics like Where the Streets Have No Name, One, Beautiful Day, and Vertigo.
The set was freaky and cool, like one of those alien pods from War of the Worlds. The giant 360’ screen was awesome, and the sound was clear and full.
