princess productions presents the biennial festival dance: made in canada / fait au canada, with three separate MainStage Series as well as a new Late-night Series, showcasing Canadian contemporary dancers performing Canadian choreography. dance: made in canada / fait au canada runs August 11 to 14 at Toronto’s Betty Oliphant Theatre.

The MainStage Series consists of seven new dance works performed by twelve contemporary dancers from across Canada divided into the Kudelka Series, the Morrison Series, and the Baker Series.

Kudelka Series – August 12 (7pm), August 13 (9pm) and August 14 (4pm)
Curated by legendary choreographer James Kudelka.
-Vancouver’s MOVE performs Josh Beamish’s Tools for Cutting, a quartet examining men’s relationship with sport’s equipment.
-Montreal’s Fila 13 perform Lina Cruz’s Soupe Du Jour.

Morrison Series – August 11 (9pm), August 13 (7pm) and August 14 (2pm)
Curated by princess productions’ Artistic Director Yvonne Ng and named after the late, great lighting designer David Morrison.
-Vancouver’s MACHiNENOiSY performs Dellia Brett and Daelik’s Self Less, a duet inspired by survivors of the 2004 tsunami in South East Asia.
-Toronto’s Michael Caldwell performs the world premiere of his own work, Ash Unravel.

Baker Series – August 11 (7pm), August 12 (9pm) and August 13 (4pm)
Curated by acclaimed choreographer/dancer Peggy Baker.
-Toronto’s Heidi Strauss and Darryl Tracy perform Marie-Josée Chartier’s duet La Lourdeur des Cendres.
-Jung-Ah Chung of Victoria, B.C. performs D.A. Hoskins’ Excerpts from a Wet Summer.
-Toronto’s Keiko Ninomiya performs the world premiere of her own kanan – kiri.

The new Late-night Series entitled What you See is What you Get runs August 12 & 13 at 11pm, and is comprised of 10-minute dances, drawn by lottery and performed by Jasmyn Fyfe, Jannine Saarinen, Sylvie Bouchard, Robert Stephen and Andrea Spaziani.
