SAT AUG 21: NUYORICAN SALSA with MODA ETERNA + DJ GIOVANNI TORRES!!!!

Join us for dancing after 9pm ($15 includes the lesson) or come early and enjoy the $49 dinner and show package. Our dinner package guarantees seating for the night and includes any appetizer, any main course and any dessert, the 9pm beginner salsa lesson and three sets by the live salsa band!

Reservations are not required for just the lesson and dancing portion of the evening.

Luisito Orbegoso’s Moda Eterna

Toronto’s Moda Eterna, the band that came together for the Ray Barretto tribute for Lulaworld, headed by one of Toronto’s most in-demand musicians, Luisito Orbegoso.

“It’s hard-hitting salsa that highlights the Ray Barretto repetoire,” says Orbegoso.

Luis Orbegoso (known in the latin recording industry as “Luisito”) was born in Lima, Perú in 1971 and moved to Canada in 1972. He graduated from Humber College music program and was a student of Memo Acevedo (professor of percussion at New York University). Luisito jump-started his career as a professional bongo player with Memo’s ground breaking salsa band “Banda Brava” in 1993. He has performed and/or recorded with Luis Mario Ochoa & Cimarrón, Dominicanada, Jerry Gonzalez, Hilton Ruiz, Oscar de León, Hilario Durán, David Virelles, Nick Ali, Jane Bunnett, Diego Marulanda & Pacande, Chucho Valdéz, Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, Changuito, Giovanny Hidalgo, Ralph Irrizarry, Nelly Furtado, Kenwood Dennard and far too many more to list here. Luisito is one of the most in-demand percussionists in Toronto.

Giovanni Torres (Dj GiO) was born in Medellin, Colombia all his life has been surrounded by music and dancing, He start his Deejay career 5 years ago, because he felt that no many Deejays were playing the music that makes the dancers move, therefore he start sharing all his Salsa knowledge with all the dancers, since he’s a dancer as well, he has a great knowledge and taste of all the Salsa styles like Puerto Rican, Cuban, Colombian, New York, He also know other Latin styles of music besides Salsa.

He has Dj for many Salsa Congresses and Festival in Canada, USA and Colombia.
