Wait a minute, Wolovick’s doing a show on a Tuesday night?

No you are not misreading, yes I am doing a show on a Tuesday night. Why?

Two words.

American Dollar (http://www.myspace.com/americandollarband) !

American Dollar are another exceptional post-rock act to come down from the States to play Rancho. This New York duo play hypnotically melodic instrumentally songs with patient ambient builds ups and huge soaring highs. Here is a stellar review describing the sound:

""Using drums, keyboards, guitars, and various other percussion instruments, John Emanuele and Rich Cupolo weave richly textured melodies in between cascades of drums, synths, and sparse organ notes, creating a sound that puts them on par with bands like The Album Leaf or Explosions in the Sky. Paramedics are coming down from Ottawa. I’ve known of this band a while, and been hoping to get them down for a show. There is tons of great music going on in Ottawa, but of all the bands I’ve heard to date Paramedics have the most intriguing and original sound. Part post-rock, part ambient, part electro even elements that sound like space-pop. Paramedics have been on my radar for months, time to get them on yours.

Fear the Cage is brand new fresh off their first experimental/electro mayhem. And my friends they sound absolutely wicked to my ears! Super rhythmic, and full of grooves. Fear the Cage are a new live band but have been rehearsing and fine-tuning for sometime now and you hear that immediately when listening to them.

Bands are on at 10:00 (Paramedics), 10:50 (Fear the Cage), 11:35 (American Dollar)

As soon as the music is over the regular Toonie Tuesday crew takeover for a DJ after party till 2 AM.
