Event Description
New Monthly Live Performance Night
Performances , Projections, Dirty Dancing
Come celebrate Pride at Buddies and listen to three of Toronto’s hottest indie bands rock it late in the early morning as we bring on Canada Day, a day of relaxing and nursing hangovers. Loveshot fuses electro-pop, with hard guitar riffs and dirty pop lyrics, Heavy Filth lays it loud and low, and Senor Kasio pounds out dirty pop tunes with naughty lyrics.
We’ve also got a special dazzling drag performance by King Codi, a tantalizing burlesque routine by Dew Lily, and a Fashion Extravaganza by designer Baby Steinberg, If that wasn’t enough to send you over the edge, the evening is hosted by foul-mouthed comedian extraordinaire Shelley Marshall. There’s no excuse for you not to be here tonight. The next day is a holiday, so stay late, sleep late!

Performer Bio’s
Loveshot
Loveshot was born out of a long hard night of sex, drugs, and rock and roll—-capped off with a 40 of J.D and some shirtless dancing. Okay, so only four out of those five things really happened—-but after sobering up and putting their shirts back on; Joseph, Diane, Vanessa and Graham found themselves in a band. They spent the rest of that day, and half of the next coming up with a secret band handshake—but once that was in place, there was nothing that could stop them and their quest to bring their own brand of party to the Toronto music scene. With the release of their first EP Love Assassin in 2009, Loveshot has seen early success by being booked to play various venues around Toronto. This four piece band is known for their high energy live shows, party vibe and, of course, the top secret handshake. Loveshot’s members were looking to fuse electro-pop, with hard guitar riffs and dirty pop lyrics—so that party people would always have something to dance and drink J.D. too(as well as dance shirtless to if they so choose). With one half of the band originally from Western Canada, and the other half representing the Eastern Time Zone—Loveshot has come together to unite Canada in Dance party glory.
Heavy Filth
Crawling out of the shards of lesbian disaster in the Summer of Hate 2008, Heavy Filth lays it loud and low. Maija Martin (shrieks and strings), Stu Marvel (grunts and strings), Miss Kitty Galore (subterranean rumbles) and Animal (skins and sticks) will make your heart ache and your ears bleed.
Señor Kasio
Señor Kasio is a fast and and frenetic punk-rock tribute to anger, lust, lusty anger, and most of all, anger. Singer/songwriter Steve Diguer and guitarist Alex Brûlé have been tearing up the Toronto scene since the launch of the insanely addictive “I Wanna F*** (I.W.F.)” in 2004, which went on to receive international exposure through Ark Records in the U.K. After a brief tour of Dublin, any remaining artistic inhibitions were lost. Joined by Adam Warner on drums and Tristen Bakker on bass, Señor Kasio is re-emerging with a new raw, uncomplicated sound and message best expressed in their irresistible new track “Suck It.”
King Codi
An outlaw King, wanted in several provinces for risque performances, outrageous behavior and breaking the hearts of legions of gay men… are you ready for… Codi?
Dew Lily
Dew Lily puts on clothes and then strips them off several times a day, and has been doing so for the past 20-something years. Originally stripping in his boy-douir, then high school locker rooms (he was not on any sports teams), moving on to strip out of designer clothes all over the world, Dew finally moved to Toronto where he found his place as an original member of Boylesque T.O, Canada’s premiere all-male burlesque troupe. Caution: many small animals were harmed in the making of Dew Lily

Baby Steinberg
This Brazilian born artist and entrepreneur is known on the Toronto scene for her strong fashion statements and elaborate events.
What began as a hobby in her home country, creating jewellery has become a passion and obsession for Toronto based artist Baby Steinberg. During the mid 90’s while working as a nurse, Baby volunteered in the favelas of South Brazil teaching kids how to make necklaces. Baby’s love for the art of fashion was born. From this experience, she decided to attend art classes instead of pursuing medicine.
Years later and after many travels, designing jewellery for Baby wasn’t enough and she began designing clothing. Her style is of it’s own and can definitely be described as worldly and avant garde.
Besides using fabrics for her designs she also uses recycled materials such as plastic bags, cellphone parts, used umbrellas, old keys, etc…
“Going back and forth between Canada and Brazil gives me my inspiration and creativity”, she admits. Not known for her fondness to colder climates, she typically spends the winter season down south with an assortment of family and friends and running her store in a beach town.
This is where her ideas develop and also where she buys many of the materials she uses to make her collections. Baby’s designs have been featured in various fashion and art shows, as well in magazines such as Moda(Brazil), German Vogue, Strut, Muslim Girl, Elle Canada and others…
