Event Description

TWM: Mass Assembly, Krasnogorsk, Ryan Bourne, the Micronite Filters

After a slight mixup with dates we’ve settled the lineup for June 11th and it promises to be an intriguing and varied showcase of some great indie bands both local and from afar.

The Micronite Filters will get the night off to a super charged start with their dirty three piece rock stylings. Somehow I have never seen the Micronite Filters even though so many of my friends swear by their live set.

Here’s a great quote on their sound: "
Its all “late-nite quarry rock, rubber-boot stomp rock, fishing-hole country rock and John Deere blues."

Then we have Ryan Bourne who is coming down with his band all the way from Calgary. Now I could tell you how wicked I think Ryan’s myspace is. But instead I"ll let the words of Ken Beattie (an excellent publicist) do the talking:

“Light and dark. Exultation and despair. Love and death… Supermodern World Of Beauty, the debut offering by Calgary musician Ryan Bourne, is a kaleidoscopic descent into a realm of contrast. It is sprawling and sparse, joyful and pensive, raucous and delicate. Evocative vocals, raw guitars, analog circuitry and homemade effects crackle and soar where unabashed songcraft, meet the outer limits of psychedelic rock.”

Then we have a special treat from the East Coast, Krasnogorsk. Their setup is violin, vocals, baritone, ukulele and double bass. So you can immediately tell this is something new. If you liked Gypsophilia and their gyspy folk you are going to love this. I find is mesmorizing.

Closing out the night are Mass Assembly. Mass Assembly brings the night full circle, ending it with the same super energy that Micronite Filters will have started it off with. Here is a quote:

""Punked-up, classic garage rawk with a sneer that recalls vintage Stooges, Johnny Thunders, The Who, and Louis XIV all at once… great lyrics, too! I can relate….“~Little Timmy re: Tranquilizer”

So it is a rock sandwich filled with delicious indie goodness from across the country. How delicious that sounds!
