Event Description

TWM/Pitter Patter: Huddle, The Cautioneers, Locomotive8

It is Pitter Patter time again and this year Rancho Relaxo and TWM are happy to be full four day participants in the festival.

Pitter Patter Festival is the brain child of Keith Hamilton who runs the tried and proven Pitter Patter series over at the Boat. Once a year, the series expands beyond the Boat and outside of Toronto to several other cities for a four day festival. The festival is free to apply to, everyone who works it is volunteers and the cover is always Pay What You Can. All in all it makes it about the most fan/band friendly festival going. And we over at TWM have some great bands in store for you.

Starting with:

Locomotive 8

I haven’t had the priviledge to see Locomotive 8 yet, but there myspace has me excited for the experience in two weeks time. But because I’ve never seen them live let’s refer to someone who has, Lonely Vagabond:

“That was a great set at Bread & Circus. Bright, hard-charging, heart-on-your-sleeve rock that careens between the raw lo-fi spirit of Pavement and the catchy alt-rock of REM. Straddling the divide between rock grit and a hook-driven sensibility, Locomotive 8 is a well-rounded band that consistently delivers a high-energy set. "

And then The Cautioneers:

The Cautioneers are a great soaring indie-rock band with lots of folk, tons of energy, and a highly respected live show. The last time the Cautioneers played the Rancho was a PWYC Weds and the band had our sound system seriously let them down, but despite that they galvanized the crowd and pulled off a very endearing and memorable set. This time, expect no technical difficulties!

Closing out the fest Huddle:

Huddle, as Keith Hamilton explains was expected to play Pitter Patter at the Rancho last year while I was busy (on honeymoon). But they had to back out last minute. Not knowing this, I heard their myspace a few weeks ago and immediately wanted to book them. The songs on myspace aren’t trying to use bells and whistles, they aren’t a 6 piece, just a tried and true four piece. And they play indie-rock, but not so much current indie-rock as polished yester-year indie-rock. Which actually makes Huddle remarkably fresh.
