Twm: Old World Vulture, Bulletproof Tiger, Lordy Lordy +Bronx Cheerleader

Old World Vulture is ready to release their debut EP! Toronto’s premiere instrumental rock band have been working hard, building a name for themselves, a reputation for a dynamite live show. AND found time to record some songs for your listening pleasure.

I love instrumental bands, but one thing that is particularly cool about them is that their recorded music I find can stand up to an insane amount of listens. I have an advance copy of this EP and it is awesome. So come on out and support a great band with great people and hear for yourself why this is one of my favourite new bands in the city.

Getting the night started is St. Catharines Bronx Cheerleader. Old World Vulture’s Mike Costanzo has the highest of praise for this band, and you can hear why when you listen to the myspace. Thoughtful, non rushed indie music. The myspace tells you everything you need to know in terms of who they have been compared to. The likes of the Shins, Elliott Smith, Great Lake Swimmers, Nick Drake and I’ll throw out a name as well, the Gandharvas. They’ll be on early, so you’ll miss them if you opt to be fashionable.

Then it’s an epic instrumental rock act from Windsor, The Bulletproof Tiger. Krupke played with them in Windsor and returned with minds blown. Similar response was felt at Rancho about a month ago. So, be prepared for your mind to be left in pieces splattered across the Rancho floor after seeing them. Just make sure you pick it in time for it to happen all over again for Old World Vulture.

Then we have Lordy Lordy. Lordy Lordy debuted at the Cheap Speakers EP release show. They are a side project of Black Hat Brigade so immediately that’s a good sign because BlacK Hat Brigade kick a lot of ass. But Lordy Lordy is a different breed. A three piece, that has more in common with the Band than they do Black Hat if you ask me. These are exciting times for the young band so come and hear for yourself.
