Event Description

Pwyc Weds W/ The Best, Blind Mule & Whistletop

Its another PWYC Weds and this one is a varied night featuring three bands who haven’t played Rancho before.

The night starts with Whistletop! Whistletop are currently in the process of coming up with a new name but I don’t know why. This name is pretty sweet. The band plays an eerie folk type sound which reminds me of what Timber Timbre is doing. That’s big praise because Timber Timbre is awesome stuff. Come early to catch this act.

Then the night moves along with Blind Mule. Blind Mule first hit my ears when they played with Schomberg Fair in Lethbridge. They also played the Hi-Hat showcase at CMW. Blind Mule is full of veteran musicians who have been involved with very successful projects in the past. Now, Blind Mule is a more rootsy project, a very catchy one. Solid songwriting, I’m looking forward to seeing why this band’s live show is so revered.

Closing the night are the Best! The Best are a band I’ve been meaning to book for a long time. A local indie rock band done by four guys who mix a lot of influences including a heavy hip-hop influence to come up with a very fresh local sound. Check out this Lonely Vagabond review:

“That was a great set at The Press Club. For the fired-up energy of a frat party, look no further. The Best deliver a fuzzy garage-funk-rap hybrid, a raucous attitude wrapped around driving grooves. Slinky basslines, propulsive drums, and a hair-whipping guitarist flailing around in the rockabilly tradition. Drinking/party music that’s uptempo and inspired. "
