Event Description
A girl from Ottawa and a guy from Cape Breton met in a university residence common room. Through a haze of late-night jams and the innocence of their early-20s, they formed a musical duo. One night they took their new tunes and tight harmonies downtown to the Free Times Café open stage and had so much fun, it led to more and more gigs and a lease on a North York townhouse with a very leaky basement.
The duo became a trio. And then a duo again. And then it was no more.
Shawna went on to play solo around town and beyond. She’s got a big ol’ voice and some snazzy guitar skills. And songs. Lots and lots of songs.
Brian spent two years atop the CBC tower, surrounded by the cast of Air Farce, and the past three months out on the coast, in Halifax, with the cast of This Hour Has 22 Minutes. Now he’s back and he’s got songs built up alongside years of comedy writing, and they’re all going to come out on stage.
We’re bringing it back to where it all started – Shawna and Brian, together again at the Free Times Café. Old songs, new songs, maybe even some cover songs.
5 bucks and maybe a few friends is all you need to bring along.
Come early for dinner. The food’s real good. Nothing like a Sunday night in our neighbourhood.
