TWM: The People, Wild Fireworks (Kevin Kralik), the Big Deal & Ryan Warner!

This is one hell of a party people! The best part is Friday is good/great Friday so this Thursday is a glorified weekend as far as I am concerned.

So we’ve stacked together a sweet and diverse lineup that spans tons of genres and will end off with a huge party guaranteed.

The night starts with Ryan Warner! Ryan delighted the Rancho on a PWYC Weds a few months ago in what was his debut Toronto show. Mr. Warner is a supremely talented singer/songwriter with a stomp box, a guitar, some killer songwriting and a tremendous vocal. He’s had tons of stage time over seas and this had made him able to really captivate an audience. If you dig Jay Sparrow, you will dig Ryan Warner.

Then we move into the Big Deal and things really get cranked up. I’ve been talking to the lead singer Vanessa aka Hurricane V quite a bit lately and she has me so revved up for this show. That enthusiasm that you get even just talking to her on facebook can be heard when you go to their myspace. It truly is a volcano of energy ready to errupt! Here’s a review from the always eloquent Lonely Vagabond:

“That was a great set at The Horseshoe. This is an energy fueled sound that’s never short on ambition, never short of that classic rock spirit. Front by rock vixen Vanessa, this combination of soul-fire riffs, simmering intensity, and swagger, is as sexy and raw as they come. Onwards and upwards for the band. "

And in the third slot are Wild Fireworks! Wild Fireworks comes from the musical mind of Kevin Kralik (The Paint Movement). While the Paint Movement works on a new record, Wild Fireworks is a creative way for Kevin to continue to play music and expand as a musician. The last jam was simply awesome.

The night’s closers are the People! The People are a hip-hop act with a full live band behind them a la the Roots. Don’t get me wrong, I dig rappers backed by DJ’s but there is something special about seeing it this way. We’ve been playing the People’s record at Rancho regularly and now they’ll stop by to kick off their Ontario tour with a headline slot at the Ranch!
