Event Description

TWM/CMF:Body Electric,Ascot Royals,Papier Tigre,Locusts Have No King

TWM is so excited for CMF this year! The good people of the festival were kind enough to allow TWM to book the vast majority of the shows and so we’ve built a string of nights highlighting some of the best music of the festival. This is the final night and TWM/CMF bring to you one last chance to check out some bands, hang out with your friends and say goodbye to what promises to be an epic festival.

The night starts with Windsor’s The Locusts Have No King. The Locusts are one of Windsor’s finest exports when it comes to music. Accomplished musicians, great performers and all around awesome people. I always liked the Locusts but the last time they came to town they won the Rancho’s hearts forever. While going out to their van to grab gear accidentally the van’s keys were knocked and dropped into the sewer below. With no way to get into the van eventually the band was able to find people on the street to help them pry open the sewer grate. And then down the grate went the bravest of the Locusts, Tara. Into the sewer she went but the keys could not be found. Somehow with all this happening the band still put on a terrific set. How can’t you love that?

Moving along we then have France’s Papier Tigre. One of the buzz bands of the festival Papier Tigre are one of the bands doing CMW and SXSW. The description provided on the CMW website has me excited and so do the myspace recordings: “Dynamically rhythmic, lyrical and full of pounding drum beats that hit you right in the gut. Papier Tigre are a bass free, indie rock/punk force to be reckoned with.”

At 11 we have the Ascot Royals! The Ascot Royals emerged in 2009 and plan to try to make 2010 even bigger. These guys are airtight dancey indie rock that is almost impossible to not starting moving around and dancing to. This will be their festival debut but for sure it won’t be the last you are going to see.

And closing out the night AND the festival are Toronto’s the Body Electric! Last week the Body Electric played Rancho and immediately became one of the band’s I am watching in the next year. Consisting of band members from several other successful projects this is Patrick Grant’s vehicle to launch the music he has been working on. This 6 or 7 piece band (depending on the show) spans several genres and is a true musical journey when you are listening.
