Jason Collet w/ Zeus & Bahamas (Doors 8:00PM) Canadian Music Fest Showcase

CANADIAN MUSIC FEST 2010 PRESENTS
JASON COLLETT
(Toronto – Monday, January 11, 2010) – Canadian Music Fest 2010 is proud to present Jason Collett live in concert at Lee’s Palace on Wednesday, March 10.

Broken Social Scene ‘alumnus’ Jason Collett will be headlining a revue style performance, with Zeus and Bahamas, each of whom share a common thread.

One of Canada’s most treasured troubadours, Jason Collett is an artist who pushes the boundaries of the common singer-songwriter, blurring the lines of rock, folk and soulful country. His brilliant new album, Rat a Tat Tat, is a remarkable and honest example of a storyteller documenting and soundtracking his experiences and surroundings with distinct and precise ability. The album will be released across North America on March 9 via Arts & Crafts.

Joining him will be labelmates, Zeus, purveyors of a sound that cross references ’60s-era British Invasion with ’70s-era US southern rock. Zeus’ debut full-length album, Say Us, will be released on February 23, also via Arts & Crafts.

The connections between these two artists have been well-documented, and often draw comparisons to the story of Canadian rock legends, The Band. The members of Zeus also comprise Jason Collett’s backing band, both live and in the studio. In fact, Zeus’ Mike O’Brien and Carlin Nicholson produced Jason’s latest album.

Also on the line-up is Bahamas, known better to his friends as Afie Jurvanen. Having spent the last few years playing piano and guitar with Feist as well as with Jason Collett and members of Zeus, he’s now turning the spotlight on his own material, supporting his debut release Pink Strat. A Bahamas live show is likely to be a solo affair, though lately, a host of Toronto time keepers have been sitting behind the drum kit to accompany the Finnish-Canadian through a set of his so called “love songs.”

Unique to these performances, the three artists will perform both individually and collectively, seamlessly transitioning from one act to another, and collaborating with one another throughout the night. The show promises to be a special night, the result of three talented artists who share a common musical lineage.
