Event Description

Platinum Blonde is a Canadian New Wave group in the 1980s. The band originally consisted of Mark Holmes from Manchester, England on vocals and bass, Sergio Galli on guitar and Chris Steffler on drums. Scottish musician Kenny MacLean later joined the group. The name of the band was inspired by the 1931 Jean Harlow movie Platinum Blonde. They were known also for their stylish glam rock-like appearance dressing in pastel colour outfits and their music videos. Platinum Blonde will be inducted into the Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame on March 12th 2010.

The Platinum Blonde show started with a 6 minute video intro with interviews and video footage, that worked the crowd into a frenzy. The band began to play, the curtains opened slowly and The Mod Club erupted into a frenzy.

The boys banged out hit after hit with every song still sounding relevant. Hints of a new album and tour were given by Mark Holmes.
